im with crom....kubrick then kurosawa.

i dont know how the rest of the list would fill out, but those are definitely always my top two, in order. and gilliam is always somewhere in the top five.

honorable mentions to some constantly overlooked geniuses: paul verhoeven, jim henson, john mctiernan, robert zemeckis, joe dante.

True. I've had 7 Samurais for the longest but haven't gotten around to it yet. Downloading Ran right now so I think I'll start with that. Most of the best directors is in this list but I miss Argento up there..even though he's far from flawless he has quite a few great movies.

I think 7 Samurais is the one Kurosawa film I saw and it was fucking awesome.
