The HipHopHeads Podcast: Episode 5 (Boston Hip-Hop)

www.thecryptonline.com Presents: The HipHopHeads Podcast (Episode 5: Boston HipHop)
Todays Episode has us showing love to some Boston MC’s, producers, and creators. We take a ride around the little state of Massachusetts, giving love to some artists we’ve been really enjoying as of late. Boston has been putting out great music for years that seemingly goes unnoticed outside the city or ironically gets love everywhere but our city. Strange, I know. But its about time this Boston based Podcast dedicated an episode to the bay state.

R.I.P. DJ On&On

Last week DJ On&On aka Dave Cash lost his hard battle to Cancer. On&On was a staple in the Boston Underground HipHop Scene. He was a great DJ, a unique and hilarious personality, a father, a basketball lover and a ambassador for HipHop. He was mainstay at the ughh store conducting interviews with many of hiphops greats as well as contributing DJ Mixes to the site and hosting mixtapes for other New England rappers. He also was host of JAM’N 94.5 Launchpad a Boston based HipHop Radio station/show that showed local talent. He was great to the scene and its going to empty space in the city without him. RIP DJ On&On and condolences to his friends, family, and colleagues.

Newbury Freestyle Tape II (circa 96?)

Newbury Freestyle Tape II
www.thecryptonline.com
The Newbury Freestyle Tape is pretty legendary it’s the holy grail of the underground hiphop scene specifically Boston. This is the tape where many established MC’s got their start. Akrobatik, Mr. Lif, Rip Shop, among others all got there start on this tape. This is unbelievably rare and it’s pretty much non-existent and has never been leaked to the internet you can’t even find info of this on the net check Discogs! This is 90 minutes of fresh material ripped directly from tape and cut up by freestyle. The quality is extremely good, I also have side A and B ripped directly in two 45 minute tracks. Take a step into 1996, back when dudes used to really freestyle.
Liner Notes
T-Maxx, Akrobatik, Mr. Lif, KT, Low Key, Mikst Nutz, Mr. Duff, 7th Child, God Complex, Polecast, M Slash and more!

Full Tape with all tracks cut up and OG Rips of Side A and Side B below,
